Winning Spiritual Warfare

And he gives grace generously. As the Scriptures say, “God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.” So humble yourselves before God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Come close to God, and God will come close to you. Wash your hands, you sinners; purify your hearts, for your loyalty is divided between God and the world.

James 4:6-8

Spiritual warfare in the unseen realm is a normal part of the Christian life. We have a very real enemy—Satan and his demons, who are out to devour our faith in God (1 Peter 5:8-9). And therefore, we all fight very real spiritual battles—some of which are not just because of our flesh or the world, but sometimes it is the devil and his demons behind it.

We know that we have no power in our own strength or wisdom to fight, but rather we have all that we need in our victorious King who has crushed Satan and his demons and who now has all authority over every principality and power (Colossians 2:10). And our power now comes from Jesus’s final and eternal authority.

Our next steps to win spiritual battles against the enemy are simply to confess and repent from sin, submit our lives back under Jesus’s authority, and rebuke the enemy in Jesus’s name. We encourage you to pray these prayers audibly and whole-heartedly in faith:

Heavenly Father, Lord Jesus, Holy Spirit,

- I thank You for bringing me safely into this new day!

- I submit myself to You and to Your Authority.

- I reaffirm that my trust is in You alone. (John 3:16)

- I repent of all of my sins (confess them aloud) (1 John 1: 9-10)

- Through Your grace, mercy, and empowerment, I forgive all who have offended me or will offend me. (Matthew 6: 14-15)

- I submit myself to all those in authority over me in the church (Hebrews 13:17)

- I submit myself to all of the civil authorities over me (Romans 13:1-8; 1 Peter 2:13-17)

- I submit myself to all in authority over me in my work (Col 3:22-24; Phil 2:14-15; Eph 6:6; 1 Pet 2:18, 5:5)

In the Name of Jesus Christ, and through His authority, I now resist you Satan, and all who work for you.

- I command you, all of you forces of darkness, to get away from me, from my wife, and children, and grandchildren, and from all who are under my authority, and from all that is under my authority.

- I command you to get away from us, and to stay away from us throughout this day, and through the night that follows, in and through the Name and the authority of the Lord Jesus Christ.

- Lord Jesus, I now draw near to You, and I thank You that You now draw near to me. Please continue to fill me, and my family with Your Holy Spirit, and to draw us ever closer to you, that we may become increasingly true worshipers of Yours, in Spirit and in truth, for Your blessing and benefit, as well as for ours.

- I ask these things in Your Name Lord Jesus, and Thank You for them Heavenly Father, through Your mighty power Holy Spirit.

Amen.
